Hidden fences are established by burying a 'boundary wire' a few inches below the surface around your property. This wire carries a harmless, low-level radio signal emitted by a transmitter installed in your house or garage. Your pet wears a lightweight, waterproof receiver collar that detects the radio signal from the buried wire. When your pet nears the hidden boundary wire, the receiver collar emits a warning signal, either audible or in the form of a vibration, prompting your pet to slow down and turn back. If your pet persists and approaches the boundary wire, the receiver collar administers a mild but safe stimulation, often referred to as a "correction." This gentle sensation reinforces the boundary and deters your pet from crossing it. Through training, your pet learns to associate the warning signal with the presence of the hidden fence and understands the importance of stopping when the signal is received. With a consistent training program, your pet becomes acquainted with the fence boundaries and abides by them accordingly.

In addition to outdoor applications, hidden fences can also be utilized indoors. By strategically placing the hidden wire around furniture, counters, trash bins, doorways, or any area you wish to designate as a containment or "off-limits" zone, you can create a secure space for your pet. We also offer wireless indoor units that eliminate the need for a boundary wire.

Training plays a crucial role in the process. Once the hidden fence is installed, we collaborate with you to train your pet. This training involves teaching your pet to recognize the boundaries of the containment area using a combination of voice commands, audible warning signals from the receiver collar, and visual flags placed in the yard to indicate the warning zone. Through training, the dog becomes familiar with the flag placement and associates it with the warning signal. As your pet learns, the flags are gradually removed. Your pet also learns that if they go beyond the flags and warning signals, they will receive a gentle correction from the collar. After training, most dogs refrain from crossing the hidden boundary; they usually stop before the warning signal to avoid the correction.
